When I am not stressing over school..I like to indulge myself in a bit of anime. ^_^ Yeahhhh that's great ain't it? I listen to lots of different types of music, but rock would have to be my favourite. Slipknot and Linkin Park are my two favourite bands. | Okay I totally ripped this off from Thanh's facebook but oh well =P I think it applies anyways! The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?"
He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach."
To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"
Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)
"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental...
You want to know what I make?" (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table.)
I make kids wonder. I make them question. I make them criticize. I make them apologize and mean it. I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions. I teach them to write and then I make them write. I make them read, read, read. I make them show all their work in math. I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.
I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe. Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life. (Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)
"Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant... You want to know what I make?
I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make?"

| I'm so glad to be back at hockey....I missed it so! Well we were playing the worst team in the league last night and Kenny (our normal goalie) and Jeff decided to do a little swap. So Jeff went in net and he got scored on 3 times in the first period. Granted he didn't really have a chance on any of them but that's besides the point. So we're losing pretty badly and we were playing really sluggish. I had a couple of decent shots but nothing spectacular. I get the puck and I start skating hard and I wind up for a slap shot. The puck rolls on me a bit and goes higher and wider than I was expecting. It hits the glass, and SMASH! The glass shatters! First time I've ever seen that happen and it was fucking awesome. They had to get the guy in to chip away the broken pane and to clear away the glass shards on the ice. It wasn't even that hard of a shot on my part, I mean I can shoot harder than I let that shot go so I guess it just hit in the right spot. So everyone is just skating around trying to stay warm until they finished cleaning it up and everything. Well that was their BREAKING point hehehe. We picked it up big time...scored a goal right off the bat. Then we got another one and another to take the lead! They pull their goalie and Clint takes a penalty so they had a 6 on 4. For a while I thought they were going to score it was very close because they were scrambling around our net. Rob pokes the puck out to me (didn't even know it was him I thought it just squirted out) I get it...I clear it out! GAME OVER 4-3! Fuck YEAH! We're on a 6 game winning streak. We're getting our team jersies finally! We use Bullet Bill from Mario as our logo! | | |
| Well...hockey is back in session boys and girls. We had an excellent game last week with an impressive 5-2 win over THE jerk team. Last night was a game that was interesting as well. For starters it was nasty ass weather so a lot of people couldn't make it out to the game on time, including the other team's goalie. Their first period consisted of playing with 6 players on the ice no goalie, and it sucks playing against no goalie. We scored three goals on them. They used their time out to stall as their goalie had just arrive at the beginning of the second period. These guys have been a fairly nice team and I don't remember them being jerks at all to us so we used our team's time out to help them buy some time for their goalie. It's good karma and sportsmanship so that's how it turned out. Even with the 3 goals we had scored earlier they gave us a good game. We had some shoddy defensive work and were up 5-2 at one point until the 3rd where they mounted a comeback. Things were looking grim and it seemed as though this game was going to slip away from us. We had never beaten this team before (a loss and a tie). TSN turning point of the game...I get the puck...while we're playing 4 on 4 (penalties to both teams) skate in, use the defenceman as a screen and rip a slap shot. Haha to be honest I didn't even see it go in because the guy was blocking my view of the net. We're up 6-5. Cut to about 2 minutes left in the third period and they have us trapped in our zone. I get the feeling that oh shit they're going to score soon so the puck is bouncing towards the point and I see the guy winding up so I'm the closest one to him and there's a sense of urgency. I slide to block it...and bammmm hits me in the leg. Hurt like a bitch! The puck bounces off my leg and is still in our zone, people from my team are screaming skate with it and at that point in time I was just concerned about getting the puck outta our zone. Time ticks down and we score an empty netter. Game over 7-5! What do I have to show for it now? | | |
